Coentrao set for first appearance in seven months

After suffering a serious injury on April 1, Fabio Coentrao is due to return to playing action after almost seven months on the sidelines as Real Madrid face Cultural Leonesa.
The Copa del Rey clash will see a number of Blancos stars rested by Zinedine Zidane, including Cristiano Ronaldo, to give the Portuguese defender an opportunity to pull on the jersey once again.
Coentrao has already been in a Real squad this season, travelling to Borussia Dortmund for the 2-2 Champions League draw, although was forced to delay his recovery after that trip.
It's been a long wait for Fabio Coentrao since he was last able to kick a ball in anger and appear for the first-team appearance, specifically 203 days, but now the Portuguese international is back in the Real Madrid fold.
Picking up a long-term injury on loan at Monaco, Coentrao once again returned to full training on Thursday having being named as a substitute against Borussia Dortmund last month.
After that trip to Germany, thigh problems persisted and kept him out of action until now, with the weekend game against Athletic Club pencilled in as his next return to the squad.
Also featuring in the senior side's preparation for the LaLiga clash were Martin Odegaard and Enzo Zidane whilst Casemiro, Luka Modric, and Sergio Ramos continued their recovery from injury.
A long-term thigh injury saw the Portugal defender miss Euro 2016 and pre-season, but now back in training an October return to playing action is pencilled in for Coentrao.
"Happy because everything is going well with my recovery," tweeted the Real player.During a piggy-in-the-middle drill, common in Spain and known as a 'rondo', Ronaldo was unable to avoid the left-back from slitting the ball past him through his legs, much to the rest of the squad's amusement.
The Real Madrid No. 7 was not only left having to deal with Coentrao outfoxing him, but also apologised for his rash challenge before the pass was made.
