After scoring six goals in the first six league fixtures this season, Antoine Griezmann is enjoying a fine start to the new campaign, picking up La Liga's September player-of-the-month award in the process, though still attracting criticism from compatriot Frank Ribery.
Ribery has warned the striker he has not yet reached world class status, going on to say that this can only be achieved with consistency.
Although being side-lined for much of last season, Ribery believes that he has belonged to an exclusive group of top performers over the years - unlike Griezmann - who scored the away goal for Atletico that knocked Bayern out of the Champions League in April.
"I've yet to reach my peak," Griezmann responded. "Im very happy to receive this award because it means I'm on the right track, scoring goals, helping the team and hopefully this is the first of many.
"Right now, I'm really enjoying my football."
Atletico Madrid will look to maintain their spot at the top of La Liga with a victory over Granada at the Estadio Vincente Calderon Saturday evening.
