Kovacic: Morata deserves to start, but so does Benzema

On the back of a third consecutive LaLiga start, Mateo Kovacic praised the two pure strikers in the Real Madrid squad, Alvaro Morata and Karim Benzema.
A segment of the fan base is beginning to campaign for the La Fabrica product to be featured more often in Zinedine Zidane's starting line-up, but the Croatian opted to brush off the controversy.
"He [Morata] has done a fantastic job and deserves to start," Kovacic said. "He scores whenever he is given a chance, but so does Benzema."
The 22-year-old emphasised how complicated it is to attain victories away from the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
"It was a difficult match on the road," he said. "Fortunately for us, we are leaving town with three more points."
When asked about Cristiano Ronaldo's drought-ending hat-trick, Kovacic declared the Portuguese was content with the overall result.
"He [Ronaldo] is happy about the win, like everyone else," Kovacic insisted. "What matters is the fact we won, not who scored."
Lastly, the ex-Inter midfielder said the squad have definitely left the four-match drawing slump behind.
"Real have gone from drawing four straight matches to getting four or five wins in a row," he concluded. "Real Madrid must keep it up."
