Aweek of constant discussion about last Saturday's fiery game at the Estadio Mestalla has taken its toll on Luis Enrique, who hopes his Barcelona side can get back to concentrating on delivering footballing performances supporters can be proud of.
Visibly irritated by yet more questions relating to the bottle-throwing incident that marred the Blaugrana's comeback win, the 46-year-old instead chose to reaffirm the club's commitment to fair play and attractive football.
"I won't talk anymore about the Mestalla," he said.
"In the club we have a set of values that we try to convey.
"I am not interested in adding fuel to the fire anymore.
"We aim to play football; not to kick or injure players. These are the values we try to transmit.
"There have been seasons in which we are the team with the fewest cards, just have a look at the 'fair play' awards we have received in recent years.
"We want to offer a show and we want to continue playing football fans will be proud of."
With injuries mounting up for the Camp Nou outfit, Enrique is aware that Saturday evening's game could be something of a banana skin for his decimated squad, but nevertheless retains confidence in his ability to manage the problems in an effective manner.
"The difficulties are the usual ones," he added.
"We have to try to not complicate the game.
"It is a time of the season in which there has been a high number of injuries, it happens and you have to know how to manage it."Barcelona, Catalonia and Lionel Messi by Valencia fans during last Saturday's LaLiga match at the Mestalla have been condemned by the league's governing body.
The events of that match have sparked a week of controversy, in which Valencia were fined 1,500 euros for the throwing of a bottle at Neymar and in whichBarcelona players were said to have overreacted to the incident by the Spanish FA's Competition Committee.
LaLiga's listing of the Valencia fans' insults is just the latest chapter in the fallout from that Saturday afternoon clash.
"In the 11th minute, while play was going on, 1,000 home fans belonging to the 'Curva Nord' group located at the lower south goal sang 'to be for Barcelona is to be retarded' in a coordinated fashion for about ten seconds, but the rest of the fans did not join in," the league's report said.
"Then in the 93rd minute, during the visiting players' celebration of the goal, 1,000 home fans belonging to the 'Curva Nord' group sang 'fucking Barcelona and fucking Catalonia' in a coordinated fashion for about ten seconds, with some fans in other parts of the stadium joining in.
"Then in the 94th minute, during the visiting players' celebration of the goal, 1,000 home fans belonging to the 'Curva Nord' group sang 'Messi, Messi, retarded' in a coordinated fashion for about ten seconds, but the rest of the fans did not join in."
It remains to be seen if any punishment will be dished out to Valencia with regards to the singing, following on from the fine for the launching of the bottle.
