Having joined Real Madrid in the summer for the second time, Alvaro Morata was persuaded to prolong his stay due to Zinedine Zidane's promises of game time.
Plenty of clubs were interested in signing the striker immediately after Los Blancos enacted their buy-back clause with Juventus.
"I spoke to Zidane and he told me I'd be important and play a lot, I don't know if I should play more as the coach is the one who decides," Morata told Cadena SER.
"Real is the most difficult place to be important, but I will keep fighting and training hard.
"Several coaches made offers but I thought this opportunity may not come around again, Madrid was the team I wanted and now I'm here."
In and out of the starting line-up, the Spaniard can now add a poor run of personal and team form to overcome when club action resumes in just over a week's time.
"Clearly we all get angry," Morata admitted. "Zidane is a very talkative coach, telling us everything to our face and I think that's important.
"We have young players, Spaniards, and a coach who knows what it is to play for Real Madrid. We have all the tools to have a great year."
