There was a welcome sight at the Estadio Vicente Calderon on Thursday as Atletico Madrid trained at their home ground with Jan Oblak part of the squad.
Missing training on Wednesday, the goalkeeper was a doubt for the fixture against Malaga on Saturday having suffered a shoulder complaint.
Oblak then worked under coach Pablo Vercellone in a full session with Andre Campos Moreira, youth keeper Barnabas, and Miguel Angel Moya, himself recovering from a long-term injury.
Alessio Cerci also joined the first-team group for the first time since returning from loan spells back in Serie A, with a knee problem plaguing his time back in the Spanish capital.Atletico Madrid midfielder Augusto Fernandez underwent surgery on a snapped anterior cruciate ligament, on September 27, marking the first of six months he'll spend on the sidelines.
Atletico's players have since banded around the Argentine during his recovery, bringing a signed shirt to his hospital bed after the Valencia win, where Antoine Griezmann dedicated his goal to Fernandez.
The blow came at an inopportune moment for both club and player, with Los Rojiblancos slapped with a FIFA transfer ban until well after Augusto's eventual return, and the midfielder missing crucial qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup with Argentina.
Albiceleste head doctor Daniel Martinez has played an integral role in Augusto's surgery and rehabilitation, with five steps to take as the Atleti man regains fitness; hydro kinesitherapy, mobilisation exercises, gait training, further mobility exercises and isometrics.
As the name suggests, hydro kinesitherapy employs water at different temperatures and pressures to aid physiotherapy techniques, while gait training is based around effectively re-learning how to walk.
Isometrics, meanwhile, aims to build the muscles affected by immobility by placing them in a static position and providing tension.
