Odegaard's awakening

The signing of Martin Odegaard by Real Madrid has long been questioned but in two games over the past week, the Norwegian has got everyone sitting up and taking notice again.

First with his national U21 side, Odegaard scored two and made the other in a 3-0 victory over Kazakhstan.

Then, back with Castilla, he took advantage of a pass by Achraf to score against Socuellamos, rounding off a perfect seven days.

Odegaard's double for Norway's U21 sideIt didn't go unnoticed by Zinedine Zidane, who rewarded the Scandinavian and his own son Enzo by allowing them to train with the first team in Sunday's recovery session.

The younger Zidane had scored a Panenka penalty in the same game and was also instrumental in Castilla's victory.

Alongside Odegaard, the two are the most promising players in the academy at the present time.

At 16, the Norwegian had his debut with the national team, played in the First Division and was one of the greatest talents on the continent.

His signing was achieved after a fight with the biggest clubs in Europe but after arriving in Valdebebas, he didn't shine.

Only two goals in four games this season again saw negative comments about his quality and ability to influence games.

But his recent contributions have put that particular argument to bed once and for all.
