Not a penny over 20 million euros was paid for Toni Kroos when Real Madrid took the midfielder from Bayern Munich, just off the back of a World Cup triumph with his nation.
Since that day, neither party has looked back with the German a fundamental part of Los Blancos' setup under numerous managers and now signed to the capital club until 2022.
Kroos appeared deeply satisfied to be confirming his long-term future in the week ahead of putting Real Betis to the sword with yet another set-piece assist, and his affirment that he still believes in his decision to leave Bavaria was a totally honest one.
