Barcelona's 3-2 win over Valencia on Saturday was marred by the controversial incident at the end of the match when a fan at the Estadio Mestalla threw a bottle of water at the celebrating Blaugrana players, yet LaLiga president Javier Tebas had little sympathy for them and commended the way they fell to the ground en masse.
While the missile appeared to strike Neymar, a number of the Catalan club's players acted as if they were hurt by the bottle, something which the head of the league believed presented a bad image to any children watching the match.
"It looked like a game of ten-pin bowling," he said in an interview with Sportyou. "Perhaps they [fell because they] felt the water.
"We have all seen these images and there are millions of children who are watching.
"If my children were to see my feigning something, I would feel embarrassed when I went to see them later."Asked what he made of the fact that Neymar celebrated Lionel Messi's match winner in front of the Valencian fans, Tebas explained his displeasure.
"I didn't like it," the 54-year-old said. "I don't know if it was Neymar or someone else, but we have to get rid of this kind of behaviour.
"When so many people are watching you, you need to try to avoid it."
Finally, the league's president discussed the idea of bringing in retrospective disciplinary action for players for actions caught on video and explained that he would like to see provocation of fans or the feigning of injury punishable.
Yet he pointed out that any changes to the rules would have to be made by the Competition Committee.Diego Alves had hoped to pull another rabbit out of the hat and stop Lionel Messi's penalty, but on this occasion the Argentine star didn't fail which led to vociferous celebrations from the Blaugrana players right in front of the home support.
Neymar took the opportunity to gesture in their direction and not long afterwards an empty water bottle from the stands was aimed at him.
A few Barcelona players theatrically fell to the ground followed by Luis Suarez and Messi in particular chastising the crowd for their dangerous and unsportsmanlike behaviour.
MARCA spoke with sources at Valencia on Sunday, the club confirming that they are consulting with experts because they are tired of the Brazilian's constant provocations.
Celebrations that consist of Barcelona "looking" for a reaction from the tiers of an animated Mestalla.
Last year, Suarez did something similar when he opened the scoring and two seasons ago Busquets' goal on 93 minutes also saw an empty bottle that hit the head of Messi.
On that occasion the Argentinian just turned away went back to midfield.
Police are in contact with the club to find the culprit that threw the bottle and obviously Valencia have condemned the same and promised that strong sanctions will follow.
Nevertheless, they do feel that Neymar's attitude was unacceptable, and the bad feeling continued in the tunnel afterwards, again provoked by the Brazilian.
"Do that in your own stadium," Valencia's Enzo Perez chided, remonstrating with Neymar after the final whistle - a fracas that became more heated because the latter was again the main protagonist of the situation.
Valencia will continue to attempt to rid the Curva Nord stand of undesirables but are convinced that what happened on Saturday will not be repeated.
They'll also seek to understand from the Blaugrana the attitude of Neymar and certain celebrations that appeared to seek such reactions from the stands.
