Lionel Messi's sister has been at the centre of a bizarre back and forth with Martin Liberman, the popular host of Fox Sports in Argentina. In recent months, the reporter has been notoriously harsh on the Barcelona ace in his criticism of the player, who inspired his country to a 3-0 thrashing of Colombia on Tuesday. However, that came on the back of Liberman lambasting Messi's display against Brazil last week and insinuating that the injury which kept him out of a game against Venezuela was far from a serious one. With these comments fresh in her memory following Messi's display against Colombia, Maria Sol Messi chose to send a tweet, saying: "I hope that Liberman is watching this on TV."
Liberman did take the opportunity to immediately respond to the tweet live on television and although he was critical, admitted that he could see where the message came from. "If I were Messi's sister, I would also be angry as my sister Romina would surely be angry with anyone who says bad things about me," he acknowledged. "As I always say, I don't answer to or argue with women, especially about football. I send a kiss and respect to Maria Sol. "Write what you want but I fully understand that what you are doing is defending your brother. I would do the same with my sister."
