Bale: I'll do my best to return as soon as possible

In a photo published on his social networks, Gareth Bale has sought to calm the fears of Real Madrid supporters by noting that he wants to be back playing as quickly as practicable. An initial diagnosis as to his injury suggested that the Welshman could be out for between two to four months, but the winger is already working on his recovery. "Thank you for all the messages, the ankle is fine, I will do my best to return to the pitch as soon as possible," he wrote. The player was injured last Tuesday in the Champions League game against Sporting and will have to undergo surgery next Tuesday in London. James Calder, the pre-eminent surgeon in his field, will be in charge of operating on the Real Madrid international at the King Edward VII Hospital.Bale is yet another casualty for an already banged up Real Madrid side, and he could be sidelined anywhere from 2-3 months. Casemiro, Sergio Ramos, Luke Modric, Toni Kroos have all missed a significant number of matches due to long-term injuries, while Zinedine Zidane has also been forced to deal with more short term concerns as well.
Some at the club are frustrated at the situation because a lot of the injuries have come after initial knocks, meaning more direct challenges and fouls were what caused a lengthy spell away. As such, the club believes more protection is needed for each player. Casemiro's injury is the most obvious case, with a tough challenge from Espanyol's Papakouli Diop only punished with a yellow. Curiously enough, the same player would go on to injure Modric just a few weeks later. Regardless of whether the absences are due to a foul, or picked up on their own, Zidane's challenge remains bigger than ever as he'll be forced to navigate a reduced squad facing some important matches, including the FIFA Club World Cup, before a much needed winter break. Gareth Bale will miss December's Clasico have been compounded by the confirmation that surgery is required to solve a dislocated ankle tendon. Taking place in London's King Edward VII hospital on Tuesday, renowned surgeon and ankle specialist Dr. James Calder will oversee the operation, alongside club doctors Jesus Olmo and Mikel Aramberri. The upshot is that Bale will miss at least two months of Real Madrid game time, ending his involvement until around the start of February.
