Stephan Lichtsteiner is set to be on his way out of Juventus sooner rather than later as Barcelona ramp up their attempts to sign the right-back. With Sergi Roberto still familiarising himself with the role and Aleix Vidal far from Luis Enrique's good books, the experienced defender appears to be a solid solution. What's more, Lichtsteiner can play in the Champions League having failed to make the Bianconeri's 25-man squad for the group stages, heightening the Blaugrana's interest which Gazzetta dello Sport believe will be fully ignited in January. The Swiss full-back's contract is up in June and although Juventus have an option to extend it by a season, his days in Turin are most likely numbered.
Inter and Chelsea have also been touted with a move for Lichtsteiner, who has previously played for Grasshopper Zurich, Lille, and Lazio. After failing in his attempt to sign Stephan Lichtsteiner from domestic rivals Juventus, it appears that Nerazzurri coach Frank de Boer has now set his sights on the experienced Portugal international. The Nerazzurri have already splurged on Coentrao's international teammate Joao Mario and exciting young Brazilian striker Gabriel 'Gabigol' Barbosa, and so are said to be keen on signing Coentrao on a cut-price deal. The 28-year-old might find it difficult to enjoy consistent playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Marcelo having long cemented his place in the starting XI.
However, it appears unlikely that Zinedine Zidane would be willing to part with his substitute left-back this late in the transfer window and risk having to improvise if Marcelo was to suffer an injury or suspension.Already linked with the Catalans is right-back and national team captain Stephan Lichtsteiner, the Juventus man having fallen out of favour in Turin and being eyed as a possible replacement for the unfavoured Aleix Vidal. However, Lichtsteiner was rested for the clash with the minnows, leaving sporting director Robert Fernandez to watch a number of other Swiss talents. Chief among which could have been Borussia Monchengladbach starlet Nico Elvedi, Basel defender Michael Lang, or Wolfsburg's tenacious full-back Ricardo Rodriguez.
