After earning his stripes as Sir Bobby Robson's assistant at Barcelona, Jose Mourinho moved back to Portugal to step into the managerial hotseat before an incredible career, and yet it could all have gone so differently.
Taking charge of Porto in January 2002, the following season saw the Dragoes win the Primeira Liga and Taca de Portugal, leading to a possible career path that tempted Mourinho.
"The first offer I had from a club abroad was a Turkish club [which remained unnamed] in 2002/03 while I was with Porto," the Manchester United boss told reporters ahead of playing Fenerbahce in the Europa League.
"We didn't reach an agreement and ever since I've had no more offers from Turkey."
The Portuguese tactician couldn't dismiss the notion of taking charge of one of Turkey's biggest clubs in the future.
"Who knows?" said Mourinho. "I'm a football man, I'm still young and Turkey has so much passion for football, so why not?"
