No person has ever scored more goals for Real Madrid or in the Champions League, a feat which Cristiano Ronaldo believes makes some people see him as inhuman. Signs of humanity have certainly crept into the attacker's game in 2016/17 as he stutters in collecting form and fitness but a new contract has reinvigorated Ronaldo for the challenges ahead. "Sometimes people think that I'm not human, but I am. I just have my good and bad moments," Ronaldo told Real Madrid's official TV channel. "My mantra is always to react after a less good moment, that motivates me to do well and leave a good image of myself on the pitch and off of it. "[The contract] is very important for my professional life, another five years with the best club in the world is unique. The club is in my heart and I want to finish my career here."
Expanding further on his desire to make a positive impact away from the game as well as inside it, the Portuguese star spoke about sharing his privileges before naming his favourite goal for Real. "For me it's a privilege to help others," he stated. "Obviously I cannot help everyone but whenever we decide to do these things, it's because it's important for others and not just for me. "It's a privilege to score for this club and it's very difficult to choose one from so many important goals. Maybe it's not the goal you're expecting but the Champions League winning penalty was so decisive. "After the most beautiful year of my career, with the Champions League, European Championship, and contract renewal, we want to win LaLiga and retain the Champions League... Then we'll have the World Cup."Alfredo di Stefano award for the best player in LaLiga, Cristiano Ronaldo has signalled his motivation to work even harder to achieve future success.
The Portuguese star's haul of 35 goals and 11 assists saw him stave off competition from fierce rival Lionel Messi to win the award, but despite huge success over the past season, Ronaldo remains determined to give his all in the pursuit of further trophies. "[The 2015/16 season] was filled with many emotions with the Champions League and the European Championship," he told the audience at the Florida Retiro. "Today has also been a very special day with my contract renewal and a prize from MARCA, what else I can ask for? "I'm very happy. This motivates me to keep working and get better in the next few years." Asked about this year's LaLiga title race, the 31-year-old is unsurprised by Real's stiff competition, and expects whoever works hardest to eventually emerge triumphant. "It's as competitive as expected, but this is not a sprint, it's a marathon and we are going to fight," he stated. "As always God will help whoever works hardest."
