David Villa's swansong in the United States continues, with the ex-Barcelona striker nominated on a three-man shortlist to receive MLS's Most Valuable Player award for 2016.
After his haul of 23 goals helped New York City finish second in the Eastern Conference, the 34-year-old was selected alongside Bradley Wright-Phillips and Sacha Kljestan from city rivals New York Red Bulls for the prestigious award.
Set to be chosen by members of the press via a vote, the winner will be crowned on December 6 at an official awards ceremony.
