Advice from Barcelona legend Xavi was decisive in convincing Denis Suarez to return to the Camp Nou, the midfielder has revealed. The Galician spent two years with Barcelona B from 2013 until 2015, before departing for Villarreal in the summer of 2015. However, after just one season at El Madrigal, the Blaugrana exercised their buyback clause to re-sign the midfielder. "Xavi was important as the first thing he said to me when I met him was that I should go back to Barcelona," Suarez told Cadena Ser. "I'm glad that I have returned. Every time the coach puts me in the side I try to do my best to play as well as I can and take advantage of the opportunity."
Incredible Messi
The 22-year-old, who also revealed that he was a boyhood Celta Vigo supporter and singled out Gustavo Lopez as his idol growing up, admitted that he has been stunned by the quality of Lionel Messi - now that he can call him a teammate. "He is incredible. Leo demonstrates every single day why he is the best," the Spaniard continued. "In training, he does things that astonish you. "I'm surprised by his ambition. He always wants to win at everything he does. If we lose, he is so quiet. "In my first few days at the club, I immediately noticed how close he is to everyone and how much he cares about the club."
No MSN rift
Suarez was also quick to play down small suggestions of a rift between Messi's MSN colleagues Luis Suarez and Neymar, and was keen to avoid controversy when asked which Real Madrid players he would sign for the Blaugrana. "Messi, Suarez and Neymar are usually always together in the dressing room and out on the field," added Suarez. "Their good vibes help because there is no selfishness or jealousy. "With regards to who I would sign from Madrid, I think it is very difficult to improve our squad. I would also never sign for them."Luis Enrique, who also took the opportunity to praise Denis Suarez's performance in particular.
Barcelona went to Sevilla on the back of a Champions League humbling at Manchester City and they overcame the blow of conceding early to win the match through goals from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. Injuries to the likes of Andres Iniesta forced the Asturian to rotate his players, and he reserved special praise for the No.8's replacement in midfield. "I would like to emphasise Denis Suarez's match in particular," said the Barcelona boss. "He is always ready and willing, despite only featuring for a few minutes here and there. "This is this the kind of attitude we want from all of our players and I hope he carries on like that. "He is a great example of professionalism."
Meanwhile Luis Enrique still found time to praise his star man, who scored the opening goal. "Messi's ability to interpret absolutely everything is laudable," he said. "No one comes close- our objective is to find him as much as we can. "Messi has been very good, but so have others, who were aware of just how important getting a result here was."
