Gerard Deulofeu is Spain's highest-ever scorer at U21

With a goal against Austria, Gerard Deulofeu has set a new scoring record forSpain's U21 side. The penalty was his 16th goal for his country at that level and took him one clear of Valencia's Rodrigo Moreno. After a pass from Oliver, the Everton striker left behind Schoissengeyer but was knocked down. He fooled keeper Bachmann to open up a game that was level at the time. Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata remains third on this particular list with 13 goals.

Table of top scorers for Spain U21:

Deulofeu (Barcelona, Sevilla and Everton) 16
Rodrigo (Valencia): 15
Morata (Real Madrid): 13
Oscar GarcĂa (Barcelona and Albacete): 12
Isco and Munir (Real Madrid/Barcelona): 12
Pablo Counago and Adrian (Recre, Celta and Ipswich/Depor and Malaga): 9
Levante goalkeeper Alex Remiro was the unlucky one tasked with stopping the shots without the aid of a wall and he initially struggled to keep anything out. However, after all four players had converted their first attempt, he blocked the second efforts of the Real Betis and Valencia players, leaving Deulofeu and Asensio to battle it out for the top prize. The Real Madrid prospect stepped up first and was denied by the woodwork, allowing the Everton player to win it with a sweet curler. Spain fans will be hoping the players have similar free-kick success when La Rojita take on Estonia in Pontevedra on Monday, with that match kicking off at 18:45 CET.
