Guardiola: City have to learn to control the second ball

A 2-1 victory over Burnley satisfied Pep Guardiola in the sense that Manchester City took the three points, but there is still much that the Catalan wants his side to improve upon. The win puts the Citizens back on top of the Premier League at least until Chelsea play Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening. "It's very difficult to control these kind of games," Guardiola said at his post-match press conference. "We have to learn to control the second ball but it was an important victory. "Burnley play the long ball, they are taller than us and they made life difficult."
The Clarets play a different type of game to City but the Catalan is reasonably happy with how his players are adapting. "It's been a tough week," he continued. "We've played Crystal Palace and here [Burnley], two of the most robust teams in the league. I think we've adapted quite well." Games don't come any tougher than Chelsea who Guardiola's side play next. "Chelsea are the best team in the Premier League right now," he said. "We will try to discover their secret - but we have plenty of time to prepare for the game."Yaya Toure after his very public feud with Pep Guardiola, although all now seems repaired.
Not only is the midfielder speaking very highly of his coach nowadays, he's starting games and has featured heavily in the last two Premier League outings for the Citizens, both of which have resulted in wins"[Guardiola] is very intelligent and excellent tactically speaking," Toure told BT Sport after beating Burnley 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. "The most important thing is to help the team, this league is very complicated physically and mentally. Whenever the coach needs me, I'll be there and right now I feel pretty good." Next up for Manchester City, who rose to the top of the Premier League for the moment at least, is the visit of Chelsea on December 3.
