Marcelo gets a rest before Madrid derby

During the clash between Brazil and Argentina in Belo Horizonte, which ended with a clear victory for the Selecao, Marcelo was given a yellow card meaning a suspension for Brazil's next game against Peru. Although the player may well be disappointed to miss out, his coach at Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane, will be delighted. It means the safe return of one of his key players before the upcoming Madrid derby, which will be played at the Estadio Vicente Calderon on November 19.Marcelo continuing to impress for Real Madrid in 2016/17, countryman Roberto Carlos has highlighted the fact that the left-back has no limits concerning his role in the team, one in which he is a leader. Much of Los Blancos' success can be traced back to the work-rate and attacking verve of the player, something that Roberto Carlos was renowned for in his time at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
"Marcelo is the number one and has no limits," he said. "Playing in the same position as mine and talking about him as one of the best is, for me, a reason to be joyful and proud. "I'm happy to have enjoyed six or seven months on the pitch with him." Aside from Marcelo's seniority within the side, he has also become Real's talisman, for they've not lost with him in-situ. "When he plays Real are not losing, so the people are happy," Roberto Carlos continued. Asked about the rumours of Liverpool's Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho signing for Real, the veteran was a little more coy. "The decision on signings has to be discussed with the people at the club, and what I see is that we have a very strong team," he concluded.
