Messi: Despite all of the sh*t, we're still alive

After a 3-0 defeat by Brazil in the South American World Cup qualifiers, Lionel Messi didn't mince his words when describing Argentina's performance - but also recognised that their destiny remains in their own hands. La Albiceleste were comprehensively beaten at the Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte, with Barcelona teammate Neymar one of the scorers. "Despite all the sh*t we're going through, we're still alive," Messi said to reporters after the game. "We have to work with our heads because this team has very good players, but when one is not right in the head, the legs do not respond. "We must think positively and change this sh*t situation that we are living. "To make ourselves stronger and know that we are going to get out of this situation."
Messi had missed the last three Argentina games through injury and the two draws and a defeat that the team endured as a result was put down to his absence. Yet there was nothing even he could do against a confident Selecao. "Lately we are going through difficult situations," he continued. "It's never because of just one player though, we need to have a good team and a good performance." "I didn't expect this result although I knew it would be complicated." There's no let up for Argentina's qualification hopes either, with a match on Tuesday in San Juan against Colombia next up."We have to think about Colombia knowing that we have to improve a lot," Messi noted. "The margin of error is zero, we can't give away more points, and there comes a time when we have to stop making mistakes."
