Victor Sanchez del Amo replaced Gustavo Poyet as the coach of Real Betis this week, but the incoming coach may have to get used to the negative vibes that his predecessor has claimed were surrounding the club.
Having taken just 11 points from the first 11 matches of the 2016/17 campaign, the Uruguayan was dismissed from the Estadio Benito Villamarin dugout and he wasted little time in speaking out about the Andalusian club.
"Everything was made very difficult from the start and the people there were very divided," he told Deportes Cuatro.
"I noticed that the people there were very negative and that they only focussed on the negative aspects."
Asked how he was feeling at having been let go, Poyet was calm and hinted that Real Betis may have acted prematurely in sacking him.
"I'm very relaxed and I learned a lot," he told the show.
"Time will tell who was right."
The first match of the Sanchez del Amo era will be the home game against Las Palmas on November 18.
