Real Madrid set to welcome back Modric from injury

Luka Modric is set to hand Zinedine Zidane a massive fitness boost byreturning to action in the coming week.
Unavailable since knee surgery in late September, the 31-year-old is now finally able to train at a decent pace and even matched the likes of James and Marcelo at Valdebebas on Thursday morning.
At times, Los Blancos have toiled in the schemer's absence, but with a crucial set of fixtures approaching before Christmas, Modric's impending return will be music to the ears of all associated with the club.
Barring any unforeseen problems, the Croatian could be in line to make his long-awaited return to Zidane's squad in time for Sunday's early kick-off against neighbours Leganes at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, in other injury news, Sergio Ramos continues to recuperate individually from ligament sprain sustained on international duty with Spain, while fellow absentees Pepe and Casemiro are doing gym work in a bid to accelerate their return to action.Luka Modric into their squad for games with Iceland and Northern Ireland in a fortnight despite the midfielder's injury.
Perhaps inevitable given the 31-year-old's salience to his country's attempts to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, Modric nonetheless hasn't played since October 2 due to a knee injury that required surgery.
Real Madrid are in constant communication with Croatia's medical team to gauge the player's fitness, with Los Blancos preferring to keep hold of their key midfielder ahead of the Madrid derby on November 19.
However, the Adriatic nation are determined to bring in Modric when the squad meet up next Monday for their own assessment, regardless of whether he's able to feature in Madrid's match with Leganes on the weekend.
Due to be confirmed in the coming hours, Real midfielder Mateo Kovacic will also be called up after scoring the equaliser in last night's match with Legia Warsaw.
