Villa: Guardiola is one of the best coaches in history



Right after his season came to an abrupt end in the MLS playoffs with New York City FC, David Villa took the time to praise his former coach and reminisce on his time at Barcelona under Pep GuardiolaAs Manchester City find their form, the NYC FC striker believes his affiliated club can accomplish great things because of the determination and vision of his ex-boss. "Guardiola is one of the best coaches in history," Villa told Sky Sports. "City are amongst the favourites for the Champions League, and under Guardiola, even more so. "They played great football in the group stages."
Before heading to a new league in the MLS, Villa played under Guardiola for three seasons, and then spent some time at Atletico Madrid before making the trip across the Atlantic. "I'm very proud to have worked with a coach like him," he said. As to who deserves the Ballon d'Or, the striker perhaps unsurprisingly chose the entire Barcelona front three of MSN in addition to Cristiano Ronaldo as favourites and worthy winners. "I'm not sure who will win, but I'm convinced it'll be one of those four," Villa pointed out. "Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez are the best strikers in the world and understand each other very well on the pitch."
