Manchester United weren't the only side to struggle against Turkish opposition on Thursday night, as Villarreal lost 2-1 at home against Osmanlispor which makes qualification for the knock-out stages all the more difficult now.
No longer leading the group, the Yellow Submarine's dominance was undone by the unforgiving nature of Osmanlispor's counter-attacks.
Pierre Webo and Raul Rusescu, two familiar faces for their time spent in LaLiga in the past, shocked Fran Escriba's men, who were unable to respond in a convincing fashion and looked disinterested on the night.
With two matches left, there is little margin for error if Villarreal are to show that this result was only a small blimp from one of Spain's best teams that intends to seriously prove themselves on the European stage.
