Why's this photo of James Rodriguez caused controversy in Colombia?

Much anger has been directed at James Rodriguez from his native Colombia after he posed for a photo with two of the country's former presidents, Alvaro Uribe and Andres Pastrana. Although the duo were reportedly guests of Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez, and therefore none of the midfielder's political leanings can be directly inferred from their presence at the 3-0 win over Leganes, Rodriguez still found himself criticised. That is because of the tense situation in the South American country regarding the civil war and subsequent failed negotiations with the rebel FARC group, and the roles Uribe and Pastrana have had in being unable to obtain peace. There were also several messages on social media condemning the outcry, but many others targeted the national football team captain's silence on the situation. On Rodriguez's immediate agenda, however, will be his day job of taking on Chile and Argentina in Colombia's upcoming World Cup qualifiers.Zidane is unlikely to change his rotation policy in midfield anytime soon, so it looks as though James Rodriguez's future at Real Madrid is as uncertain as everThe club itself aren't keen on keeping on board a player not content with his current situation, as it could disrupt the squad harmony Zidane has worked so hard to achieve.
Since his injury in the warm-up before the Eibar match, Rodriguez has only played 20 minutes in the league against Leganes, having been left on the bench for the full 90 against Athletic and Alaves. It continues to be another story with Colombia, but good performances for the national team have done little to change Zidane's mind. With only two starts on the year against Espanyol and Villarreal, a January exit continues to be an option for a player in search for more minutes. Juventus are the latest to join the fray in recent weeks, and the Colombian may take his football elsewhere.
