Although Barcelona pulled out a 3-0 win away to Osasuna on Saturday, Jordi Alba found himself batting back questions on last weekend's Clasico incident with Mateo Kovacic.
Telling the Real Madrid midfielder to speak Spanish during the draw, the left-back has been criticised after it emerged that Kovacic in fact has mastery of five languages.
"These are just things said during a match, they are always taken out of context and isolated," Alba stated after beating the bottom-club. "Stuff like this is also said to me.
"The damage is done, and they always come looking for me.
"May all those who've spoken ill of me this past week, speak well of me for my performance today."
It was Lionel Messi who made the biggest impact at Estadio El Sadar, grabbing two goals and reinforcing his value to the Catalans.
"The question [of Messi's future] is for him," noted Alba. "Hopefully he'll stay, it's the best for us and for him, I think.
"I haven't talked to him about his future but I hope to.
"Today I gave two important assists and the first was because of Messi." Mateo Kovacic was labelled a fool by Jordi Alba during Saturday afternoon's Clasico, with the Barcelona left-back urging the Real Madrid player to learn Spanish.
The confrontation took place as Kovacic looked to join his defence's wall after Dani Carvajal had fouled Neymar.
"Learn to speak Spanish, fool," was Alba's message for the Croatian, according to El Dia Despues.
The programme's cameras also appeared to catch the 27-year-old saying: "you're very stupid ... learn to speak first, asshole ... shut up, fool".
Moments later the Catalan was arguing with Carvajal as he claimed that the Madrid right-back had handled the ball inside the area, but their discussion was of a friendlier nature and the two Spain internationals even shared a smile.
