The clock is ticking on how long Real Madrid will have to wait to learn their fate in appealing the transfer ban imposed by FIFA, as the two begin the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) hearing late next week.
Unable to register new players for the next two windows, Los Blancos are taking their case to the highest court in the land having been sanctioned by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee earlier in the year.
According to Iusport, the appeal will take place next week with both sides setting out their case before the judge and the result is expected to be announced between December 26 and 30.
As has been the case since the start of the process, Real's appeal will be presented by the prestigious and experienced Barcelona-based firm Pintó Ruiz & Del Valle, with litigation expert Lucas Ferrer leading their volley of lawyers.
FIFA, meanwhile, will be represented by Italian lawyer Marc Cavalliero as they seek to uphold their ban for illegally signing players aged under 18 between 2005 and 2014.Disciplinary Committee has turned down Real Madrid's evidence and has handed down a transfer ban, a decision the club will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS), an international body in charge of settling disputes pertaining to the world of professional sport.
The appeal will be made as quickly as possible by Los Blancos so as to speed up the process and get a final decision as soon as they can.
"The club regrets said decision, understanding it to be deeply unjust and contrary to the fundamental principles of disciplinary law",' the club said in an official statement.
