A tally of 31 goals in 30 matches has made 2016/17 Edinson Cavani's best ever Paris Saint-Germain season, but the striker insists that he is not the team's saviour.
The Uruguayan knows he must come up with goals for the Ligue 1 champions to have any chance of winning the Champions League, yet the work of his teammates is just as important.
"I'm not the saviour," the 29-year-old said ahead of this week's Champions League last 16 first leg against Barcelona.
"Football is a team sport, although you need goals to win.
"If we win then we win together.
"I'll fight to help my team and I need to my job, just like those behind me do."
Cavani did, though, admit that he is currently as good as he has ever been and he hopes that his individual effort and the team's collective effort will pay off.
"I have had some very good spells in my career, but this is my best," the striker said.
"I have worked hard to get to this point.
"We're all working hard so that we can play a good game and so that things turn out well, which we're convinced about."
However, things haven't always unfolded out as planned for the team from the French capital, both in previous editions of the Champions League and this season domestically, but Cavani trusts that the experience they've built up will stand them in good stead.
"We go out in every match with the hope of winning, but often things don't turn out as you hoped," the player explained.
"We had some hiccups at the start of the season, but we're now achieving good results.
"Barcelona have their history, but we have to show that we can achieve victory.
"We have always been candidates to reach the latter stages and we now have enough experience in the competition.
"Experience is very important and we'll fight to win it."
As for his opposite number Luis Suarez, Cavani warned against over-comparing them just because they come from the same country, stressing that they are different types of strikers.
"We have a very good relationship," he pointed out.
"We come from the same city, although we went on different paths.
"I have a great relationship with him, just like I do with the other members of the national team, as we're like a family.
"We do have different characteristics.
"Luis is more physical, and it's impressive to see a player like him, whereas I'm a little more mobile."
Cavani and his Paris Saint-Germain teammates will take on Suarez and his Barcelona equivalents this Tuesday evening at 20:45 CET.
