Barcelona accelerate Messi's recovery routine

The end of the international break cannot come quick enough for Barcelona as Lionel Messi edges closer to a return from injury.
Picking up the adductor muscle complaint in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid, the Argentine was given a three week timeframe before reappearing for the Blaugrana.
With the majority of first-team players away with their countries, Messi took part in his first session on the training pitches with a view to managing a substitute appearance against Deportivo La Coruna on October 15.
If that goes well, the attacker should be given the all-clear to feature fully against Manchester City when the Champions League is back on the agenda after the break.
Luis Enrique has been without 13 first-team players due to the internationals as he takes training in Catalunya this week, with Samuel Umtiti, Ivan Rakitic, and Messi out injured.
