Zidane's Real Madrid starting the season in Benitez's example

Seven matches into the 2016/17 LaLiga season, Real Madrid are replicating the results obtained in the previous campaign under Rafa Benitez, amassing 15 points before the October international break.
Champions League-winning coach Zinedine Zidane was off to a splendid start in his first full-season as Los Blancos boss, but the ongoing skid of three straight domestic draws has levelled his stats with the ones achieved by his oft-criticised predecessor.

2015/16 LaLiga: First seven fixtures under Benitez:

  1. Sporting de Gijón 1-1 Real Madrid
  2. Real Madrid 5-0 Betis
  3. Espanyol 0-6 Real Madrid
  4. Real Madrid 1-0 Granada
  5. Athletic 1-2 Real Madrid
  6. Real Madrid 0-0 Málaga
  7. Atlético de Madrid 1-1 Real Madrid
Madrid were the undisputed leaders through four fixtures, having defeated Real Sociedad, Celta Vigo, Osasuna and Espanyol, but they were unable to upend Villarreal, Las Palmas and Eibar.

2016/17 LaLiga: First seven fixtures under Zidane:

  1. Real Sociedad 0-3 Real Madrid
  2. Real Madrid 2-1 Celta de Vigo
  3. Real Madrid 5-2 Osasuna
  4. Espanyol 0-2 Real Madrid
  5. Real Madrid 1-1 Villarreal
  6. Las Palmas 2-2 Real Madrid
  7. Real Madrid 1-1 Eibar
On the other hand, Benitez stumbled in his debut at Estadio El Molinon with a scoreless draw against Sporting Gijon, then strung together four wins in a row over Betis, Espanyol, Granada and Athletic Club before settling for consecutive draws versus Malaga and Atletico Madrid.
On the bright side, Madrid have yet to suffer a loss this season.
